MIDWIFERY
"Pregnant and birthing mothers are elemental forces, in the same sense that gravity, thunderstorms, earthquakes, and hurricanes are elemental forces. In order to understand the laws of their energy flow, you have to love and respect them for their magnificence at the same time that you study them with the accuracy of a true scientist."
― Ina May Gaskin
Our role as midwives is to follow your lead to facilitate your birth process with guidance, reassurance, and support.
Midwives fundamentally believe that birth is a natural process that unfolds best with the least amount of intervention. Our goal is to provide a space for you to discover your true power and innate wisdom. Birth is a pivotal life experience and it is reasonable to choose to be in your home surrounded by those closest to you.
Midwives provide intensive postpartum care to ensure babies and parents have the best start possible. Postpartum is often overlooked; however, you will spend way more time postpartum than pregnant or in labor (whew!). Postpartum bodies require rest; therefore, visits are done in the home.
Please note that the Midwifery Care Package includes all postpartum care. I created the Postpartum Midwifery Care Packages for those with other birth plans that are looking for extra postpartum care.

PAYMENT INFORMATION
My goal as a rural care provider is to be accessible and a community resource. MaineCare does not cover out of hospital care or births. If you have private insurance, check your policy for out of network coverage for home birth providers. I do offer discounts, payment plans, and accept barter for a portion of my services. Current barter interests include: organic food, homemade goods, garden help and supplies, home improvement, and small business guidance. Please consider paying the full fee so others can benefit from discounted services, and I can sustain my business, if you: own your home, health insurance covers most of your health care costs, are fully employed or able to choose to work part time, have assets that contribute to financial security.
